Targus’ bitch.

Last week I went crazy and spent 40€ (yup, the days when I’d grab a new PC for 500€ every few months are well and gone) at Christina’s behest : I’ve finally sent my old backpack off to a better world after over 5 years of devoted service, and replaced it…Well, with the latest upgrade from the same brand !

It’s funny how a few years can make a big difference for a product’s design. For this new version, the company has decided to emphasize modular use, saving material and make it lighter. The laptop sleeve that used to permanently inhabit the main back space has been replaced by a padded laptop sleeve that can easily be removed or secured into the backpack thanks to velcro straps : a good idea for these days when you’re not working and are still going to use your backpack.

The main pocket profits from this by getting extra space and modularity, and the compartment for documents with a semi-rigid wall that used to be there has been replaced by a soft documents pocket with dual storage – another way to save space and weight. We’ll see if my students’ papers get ruined when I store them in there !

On the front side, a few changes as well : storage for pens no longer cover the whole length of your tools, but all the other pockets are still here and the general storage estate hasn’t moved much. Finally, one tiny pocket all the way in the front allows you to store a small MP3 player with a tiny exit hole for your earbuds – what else would you ask for ?

I hate promoting a brand, but I’ll gladly put forward a good product and that’s what’s happening right here. So if you too are usually using your backpacks so hard that they fall apart and don’t have the money for a custom bag, you can pick a CN600 without worrying it’ll let you down !
